Internet marketing today is just as prevalent as print marketing. We live in a modern world of constant advertisements: billboards, commercials, radio ads, consume us everyday, but the most recent innovation that’s flooding the scene right now is Internet marketing. Internet marketing is taking over, and it simply will not be ignored. There are many essential types of Internet marketing, but most of these strategies can be condensed into three main categories:
I. Email Marketing
II. Web Marketing
III. Social Media Marketing
- Email marketing can be used to secure both current and perspective clientele on the web by engaging them with marketing and advertising promotional emails. Additionally, advertisements can be added directly to emails sent from companies to their clients to ensure further outreach.
- Web marketing can be looked at on a broader scale. According to Webopedia, web marketing encompasses e-commerce sites, affiliate marketing sites, promotional websites, PPC ads, and organic search results.
- Of Internet marketing campaigns, the success of social media marketing tends to be the most difficult to measure. Social media marketing utilizes media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Google+ to engage current and perspective clients. Pages, articles, videos, and banner ads are frequently used to capture the attention of the Internet population.
All in all, when it comes to Internet marketing, marketers must recognize that the Internet is a great channel to send a message. When properly utilized, Internet marketing can be extremely successful.
Organic Search Results
What is an organic search? Surely you’ve heard this term before, but might still be unsure as to what it means. According to Techopedia.com, “An organic search is a term for search engine results that are naturally generated and not influenced by commercial relationships between an organization and a search provider.” This means that organic search results are purely the results of a search engine, contrary to pay-per-click advertisements that companies pay for to ensure that their organization gets some face time at the top of a search. For example, the screen shot below shows where both the organic search results and pay per click advertisements are located.
The top two search results in this image are pay-per-click advertisements; clicking on any of these options would not qualify as an ‘organic search.’ On the contrary, anything below the shaded top two results that comes from the search engine (in this case Google) can be counted as an organic search result. The reason that marketers and advertisers care so much about organic search results is simple; the higher their results, the more traffic their website will receive. For this reason, understanding the concept of an organic search result is necessary for both clients and marketers alike.
