The owners of The Gardens of Woodstock took a remote nursery with a few small out-buildings and turned the property into a wonderful experience for the senses. To showcase the wide range of plants and services available, including water-scaping, they built wonderful gardens with bridges, streams, and trails bordered by native plants. They transformed a small barn building into a beautiful retail outlet and accompanying rooms/grounds for weddings, parties and corporate events.

Build and they will come, if ‘they’ know about it, that is. Located just outside the quaint Northwest Illinois town of Woodstock, Illinois, The Gardens were positioned for substantial growth.

Lacking a website or any other form of marketing materials, however, The Gardens relied simply on word-of-mouth to spread the news about this hidden gem. The owners didn’t wish the gem to be hidden for long – and realized the need to invest in an identity and marketing program that would define The Gardens to brides-to-be and event planners alike.

We developed and implemented a completely new identity, including logos, color scheme and messaging. The new identity was greatly received and hit all the ‘right notes’ with the owners, prospective customers and local community. The new website was developed using a simple CMS (content management system) enabling the owners to easily make regular updates to the site. The website helped The Gardens to better compete with neighboring facilities and has attracted a steady stream of new inquiries.

According to The Gardens’ website, “Many of our patrons who have walked through The Gardens have stated ‘I feel like I am at the Chicago Botanic Gardens.’ We are not nearly as large, but we like to think that we are beautifying the earth in the same way.”
