OVERVIEW
Donkey Brands, the makers of the Donkey Chips, authentic tortilla chips, asked us to help them create a completely refreshed packaging presence – while maintaining the unique brand attributes of the cartoon donkey and name.

CHALLENGE
Being a start-up with only two products (Salted and Unsalted) Donkey Brands needed a partner they could trust to help them expand their brand and quickly grow their presence in the Chicago market, while ensuring each subsequent investment in marketing dollars had a definite ROI.

SOLUTION
We worked to build on the unique name (and brand awareness) of the cartoon donkey image while creating a much more effective design hierarchy:

• Better use of color to communicate flavors
• Better shelf/brand recognition – larger donkey head
• Maintain and build on the ‘clear bag’ concept to showcase product and stand out from the competition.

As important as effective package design, we re-engineered the print process for multiple flavor chip bags, by creating a color scheme using the same Flexo plates on multiple designs, saving thousands in plate costs.

Pleased with the success of the packaging project, Donkey Brands hired us to design and build their website and Facebook presence. Donkey Chips continues to grow its distribution throughout the midwest, expanding into new products and packaging sizes.
